"We welcomed the opportunity today to meet with the President and other elected officials at the White House".

The conversation lasted for nearly an hour and was "vigorous" but "respectful", and Trump seemed to be interested in hearing from all sides, said Melissa Henson of the Parents Television Council, a group that advocates against violence and sex in entertainment.

"The video games, the movies, the Internet stuff, it's so violent", the president said, mentioning his son, Barron Trump.

The meeting began with Trump showcasing a montage of context-less clips from violent video games such as the controversial No Russian mission from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, clips from Dead By Daylight, Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Evil Within, and the Sniper Elite series.

'He asked a lot of questions and he raised concerns with the violent nature of these games and asked the question: Is this causing the kids to have (this) violent behavior?' said Rep. Vicky Hartzler, R-Mo to Associated Press. A representative from the ESA will attend the meeting.

The president's viewpoint is sharply challenged by the video game industry, whose leaders came to the White House Thursday along with one of its most vocal critics, the Parents Television Council (PTC).

After the meetings the White House called for research on the effect of media and video games on gun violence but no substantial progress was made. "We discussed the numerous scientific studies establishing that there is no connection between video games and violence, First Amendment protection of video games, and how our industry's rating system effectively helps parents make informed entertainment choices". The popular shooting franchise usually releases a game every year, with the games generating over $1 billion in revenue so far. "The president's approach of leaving no stone unturned is prudent, and similar meetings with the movie industry pertaining to gun violence on film should also be conducted". Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) acknowledged in a statement recorded by Glixel outside it. "I don't know how far you can go in banning a video".

Browns make flurry of trades, add veterans
He more likely would act and draft Barkley at one, then maybe offer the Giants the moon to move up from four to two to get his QB. Suddenly, the Browns have a dynamic receiving corps, at least on paper, with Landry joining 2013 All-Pro selection Josh Gordon .

'I look at some of the things he's watching, and I say, how is that possible?' Trump added last week.

This has led multiple sources to believe that the meeting was merely placed as a distraction from discussing a heated topic today - gun control. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) told Glixel.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) agreed, saying that "I do think the president is trying to change the subject and shift focus", in a statement to Glixel.

After the meeting, the president seemed to hold the same mindset, despite contrary evidence.

Meanwhile, Florida Senator Marco Rubio contradicted this, telling The Washington Post that he acknowledges there's no link between video games and violence. Yet Supreme Court precedent would seem to limit any substantive, content-based regulation of games on the government's part.

Trump has linked video games and violence in society for years.
