Manchester United midfielder Carrick to retire
12 March 2018, 08:31 | Sandy Nunez
Carrick has won 12 major trophies in 12 years at Manchester United
"I think it's pretty much already been said, to be honest with you", he replied when asked whether he was retiring.
Despite not being in manager Jose Mourinho's regular first team plans this season, the Portuguese boss has previously stated that an offer is on the table for Carrick to take up a first-team coaching role at the end of the season. It's something you have to accept.
'Yes. It's kind of been sorted out.
Carrick has hardly played this season with the 26-year-old former Tottenham player having a heart related scare during an EFL tie against Burton in September. He still hopes to play a part in the run-in after recovering fully from a heart problem earlier in the season. Despite these worldwide appearances, the midfielder has only made one appearance at a major tournament for England, often being overlooked in favour of the likes of Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard.
In his 12 years at United, he has scored 24 goals and was given a testimonial by the club last June.
He returned to action last month but, speaking at a news conference ahead of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 match against Sevilla, Carrick confirmed the current campaign will be his last.
"I'm clear now, it took a bit of time to get over. That is where I am at", added Carrick in a statement. "There were two or three times when I wondered whether it was worth still playing, but I soon got over that".
"I wanted to finish on my own terms so I was determined to get back fit".

Alexa's new Follow-Up Mode can handle back-to-back requests
Obviously you can't make a video call to a regular Echo, but that should be obvious seeing as how it doesn't have a camera. The blue ring on your Alexa device of choice will light up during these five seconds to indicate that she's listening.
