Mack's producer confirmed to the New York Daily News that the 46-year-old had passed away at a hospital near his SC home after suffering heart failure.

Rapper Craig Mack, who rose to prominence in the early 1990s and helped jumpstart Diddy's Bad Boy Records label with his 1994 hit, "Flava in Ya Ear", died of heart failure at a hospital near his home in SC on Monday, according to the New York Daily News.

The Long Island, New York, native at one time was part of Diddy's Bad Boy Entertainment, which released his first album, "Project: Funk da World", anchored by "Flava in Ya Ear", which was nominated for a Grammy. After the success of the original, the song's remix introduced the world to The Notorious BIG, whose debut Ready To Die wound up outselling Mack's Project: Funk Da World by a significant amount.

Tributes from across the music industry have started to pour in.

The "Flava in Ya Ear" rapper was living in Walterboro, SC, where he'd joined a church and committed himself to his religion.

Producer Alvin Toney told the Daily News, "God bless my friend".

Nazi 'Bookkeeper of Auschwitz' dies after prison sentencing
A German court convicted Groening in 2015 as an accessory to murder and sentenced him to four years in prison. Groening's role at Auschwitz rose to prominence when he gave interviews in 2005 about his work at the camp.

However, this wasn't Mack's first single.

'Nobody got to understand his story, ' said Toney, who was also working with Mack and DJ Scratch on the documentary.

Rap icons and music lovers celebrated Mack for his contribution to the art form.

He noted that Mack, having struggled with illness for some time, was "prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord". "I wanted the world to know the talent he had. It was something I wanted people to enjoy, but it was cut short because he was very religious and wanted to go to church". He was prepared to do that.

Speaking of the two on MTV Raps (via the Daily News), he said, "This is my life here". Ambrosia For Heads extends its deepest condolences to Mack's family, friends and millions of fans.
