The White House pushed back against the notion that Trump's decision to meet with Kim was made in haste, with spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders saying, "This has been part of an ongoing campaign that's been going for over a year". There's no question. In his own way, but you know what, he's a nationalist.

A day away from the president's expected official action, his spokeswoman did say Mexico, Canada or other countries may be spared under national security "carve-outs", a possible move that could soften the tariff blow.

Cohn, Goldman's former president, announced his resignation this week after an unsuccessful effort to block Trump from imposing sweeping new tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

The words prompted a round of applause, including from Trump, who thanked Cohn for his service.

Liddell is now the White House's director of strategic initiatives and is said to be a key ally of Jared Kushner in an administration rife with internal feuds.

"I worked in the private sector all my life, so I'm a believer in free markets, but not unbridled free markets", Mr. Liddell said.

Trump predicted Cohn was "going to go out and make another couple of hundred million".

Judge Rana also allowed Karti to carry his spectacles and medicines as per prescription, subject to the approval of Jail doctor. The Delhi court ordered the jail authorities to ensure that adequate security is provided to Karti Chidambaram until March 24.

The lawmaker added: "It kind of reminds me of Nixon all by himself ... crying with Kissinger ..."

Cohn - a strong supporter of free trade - said he would leave the administration after being unable to prevent the president from imposing tariffs. "It's really an assault on our country", he blasted, announcing the tariffs on the metals used in everything from cars to construction, roads to railways. A provision in a 1962 USA law allows the president to set emergency tariffs as a security issue. The order leaves out Canada and Mexico but applies to every other nation, according to the White House.

The European Union has promised tariffs on items from steel to peanut butter, bourbon and denim - most of which are produced in states that Trump needs to win re-election. As a candidate, he campaigned on a promise to bring back American jobs and place American interests first on the worldwide stage, a sharp departure from the policies of his predecessor, former President Barack Obama.

Last week Gary Cohn resigned from that role after Mr Trump's announcement of tariffs on steel and aluminium imports. The bill slashed taxes for 90 percent of working Americans and reduced the tax burden for businesses across the board. Not a backbencher, even day one Trump endorses Romney in Utah Senate race Obama failed on Russia; Trump must get it right MORE's presidential transition team in 2012.

"The American aluminum and steel industry has been ravaged by aggressive foreign trade practices", Trump declared at a White House ceremony, surrounded by steel and aluminum workers holding white hard hats. No Democrats voted for the measure.

President Trump says he is open to Gary Cohn rejoining his administration. "I am grateful to the President for giving me this opportunity", Cohn said.
