Miley Cyrus sued for $300 million for allegedly stealing 'We Can't Stop'

Miley Cyrus was hit with a $300 million lawsuit over her song "We Can't Stop".

In the lawsuit, he accused Cyrus and her label RCA Records, owned by Sony Corp, of misappropriating his material, including the phrase "We run things". Things don't run we" and his lyrics, "We run things.

In the suit, May alleges that Cyrus's lyrics, namely the line, "We run things, things don't run we", are blatantly copped from his tune, and that she unlawfully borrowed his "vocal melody/rhythm/cadence/inflection". "Things no run we".

May said he sought to protect his work a year ago with the U.S. Copyright Office, and in November won "formal copyright protection" for all musical arrangements in "We Run Things".

Former Buckeye running back Carlos Hyde expected to sign with Browns
In four seasons with San Francisco, Hyde rushed for 2,729 yards while averaging 4.17 yards per carry with 21 rushing scores. He went on to claim career high rushing TDs (8), carries (240), longest rush (61 yards), and total offensive yards (1288).

"[Cyrus' song] owes the basis of its chart-topping popularity to and its highly-lucrative success to plaintiff May's protected, unique, creative and original content", the lawsuit stated, according to Reuters.

"We Can't Stop" was written and produced by Mike Will Made It, P-Nasty, and Rock City, with additional writing from Cyrus as well as Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick (presumably because the song's chorus borrows a line from their 1985 track, "La Di Do Di"). Compare the two songs below and you be the judge.

The suit goes on to claim that "We Can't Stop" came at a time when Cyrus was trying to reinvent herself as "edgy", and that her album Bangerz is filled with traces of urban and Caribbean sound. May is now seeking a trial by jury, an injunction to halt sales and further performances of the song, damages and attorney's fees.
