FBI Raid: Mueller outsources the legal torment of Michael Cohen

No Mr. President the FBI executing a search warrant on your lawyer is not an attack on America

Sanders says Trump believes that Mueller's probe has "gone too far" after federal agents raided the offices of the president's personal attorney Michael Cohen on Monday.

An attorney for the president, Joanna Hendon, appeared as well, telling the judge Trump has "an acute interest in this matter".

A warrant used in the raid Monday specifically authorized agents to seize records related to McDougal, said one of the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the confidential details.

Such an order would be sought to stop the government from using seized materials, according to a person familiar with the investigation.

Agents also subpoenaed records of New York City taxi medallions that Cohen owns, according to CNN.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein personally approved the raid, The New York Times reported.

Monday's raid infuriated Trump, who has called the special counsel investigation a "witch hunt".

The White House remained defiant that the president has the power to directly fire Mueller - despite Justice Department regulations saying otherwise.

"And an attorney who breaks the relationship between attorney and client while facing criminal charges himself is not the most likable witness", Trusty said.

Monday's raids of attorney Michael Cohen's home and office followed a referral by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who for almost a year has been looking into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Moscow. Acting with a search warrant, the raid was carried out at least in part based on a referral from Mueller's team to a federal prosecutor in NY.

Under Justice Department regulations, only Rosenstein, who oversees the Russian Federation investigation, can fire Mueller.

Trump called attorney Michael Cohen on Friday
They each sat with their own parties and 'introduced themselves. they shook hands, ' an Avra source told the New York Post . The prosecutors noted Cohen had personally not turned over any documents to Robert Mueller's Special Counsel investigation.

The cover comes after the Federal Bureau of Investigation earlier this week raided Cohen's office, seizing emails, documents and records, some of them related to his payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels.

McDougal has said she carried on an affair with Trump in 2006 after the birth of his son.

In addition to records of Cohen's loan, the Federal Bureau of Investigation also took records related to the $130,000 nondisclosure payment Cohen made to the adult-film actress, Stormy Daniels, shortly before the 2016 USA presidential election.

The lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels says he and his client will cooperate with law enforcement.

Cohen has said he paid Daniels out of his own pocket shortly before the 2016 presidential election, but has not explained why.

Cohen says he's still loyal to the president but he would have handled the payment differently because of how it has affected his family.

Cohen has acknowledged that he paid Daniels $130,000 in exchange for her promise not to talk publicly about an affair she said she had with Trump.

"She resisted the idea that Cohen's lawyers, a special master" or a "taint team" favored by prosecutors should decide what becomes public. But a source said it was Cohen's "standard practice" to play recordings for the president that he'd made of other top advisers. Do I need this in my life? No. "Do I want to be involved in this? No".

Tax records show some of his companies now owe thousands of dollars in mandatory per-ride state transportation taxes.

He contracted with Evgeny "Gene" Friedman, another immigrant from the former Soviet Union known as the "Taxi King" of NY, to manage his fleet, according to people with knowledge of the taxi industry. The AP reported last month that Nader wired Broidy $2.5 million through a Canadian company to pay for a pair of Washington conferences blasting Qatar as a state sponsor of terrorism.
