During the game, play-by-play announcer Brian Davis said player Russell Westbrook was "out of his cotton-picking mind".

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Thunder television play-by-play man Brian Davis has been suspended for Game 1 of the playoff series against Utah on Sunday for a comment he made about star Russell Westbrook during Oklahoma City's regular-season finale against Memphis. He made the comment after Westbook made a complicated pass to his teammate Terrance Ferguson.

On Wednesday night, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook was doing what he always does and that was will his team to victory while compiling stats like insane. 'Brian assures me that it was not meant in any derogatory way, and he apologizes.

"I offer my honest apology and realize that, while I committed a lapse in judgement, such mistakes come with consequences. This is an appropriate outcome for my actions".

The suspension might come as somewhat of a surprise since the Thunder's VP of broadcasting, Dan Mahoney, did not initially seem all that upset by the incident, saying it was "up to Brian" to make any public statements.

"But he definitely came in and talk [ed] to us. The team has made a decision to do what they need to do, and we just move on from it".

"He addressed the situation", George said. He owned up. He took it head on.

"We've discussed it with the announcer and let him know that. We move on. We've got something bigger to focus on and be anxious about".
