Eagles release defensive back Daryl Worley after he was found passed out inside vehicle blocking highway

The Eagles acquired Daryl Worley last month in a trade with the Panthers but cut him Sunday after he was arrested by Philadelphia police

The Eagles announced the release of Worley hours after news broke of his arrest, which occurred at 6 a.m. He was set to make $670,000 this season. Per an NFL Network report, Worley was tased after he became combative toward police.

A Philadelphia native, Worley was traded back to his hometown Eagles for veteran wide receiver Torrey Smith, and he was expected to compete for a starting cornerback position. "We're going to look at it and hopefully resolve it favorably enough so that he can maintain his career". A gun was reportedly recovered on scene.

Police said Worley was found passed out in a auto near Broad Street and Pattison Avenue around 6 a.m. Sunday. Worley started 25 games in his two seasons with the Panthers.

The charge includes "intentionally and knowingly causing bodily injury to a person 65 years or older".

Bennett turned himself into Houston police on March 26 and was released on $10,000 bond.
