A sketch of the new flagship Lenovo Z5 smartphone

Lenovo vice-president Chang Cheng posted a teaser of an upcoming smartphone, dubbed as Lenovo Z5, on China's social networking website, Weibo.

All-screen phones look cool, but they challenge the manufacturer to find a place to put front cameras, sensors and other hardware.

The Chinese firm's VP Cheng Chang has shared a sketch of the Lenovo Z5 with no notch in sight. Lenovo is teasing that an all-screen handset will be here in June. For example, the journey to a full all-screen smartphone is being delivered via the notch "the notch". Cheng added that the Z5 would have significant technological breakthroughs supported by at least 18 patents. A new wave of phones are coming with such aspect ratio, but a lot of them still have bezels or come with a notch on the top. Other than that, there were no details about where in the production process the Z5 is, or if that process has even started yet.

Are you a fan of the notch on phones like the iPhone X?

The trend among current flagships is to do away with the front fingerprint sensor (either by switching to face recognition, like iPhone X, or moving it to the back of the phone) and to house the front camera and sensors into a "notch" on top of the phone's face.

Alongside a claim which the telephone would comprise an impressive screen-to-body-ratio of 95 percent.

It's always possible that Lenovo has some exciting new technology on its hands with the Z5, but for now, it's probably best to approach these teasers will a healthy dose of skepticism.
