Delhi Police names Shashi Tharoor as accused in Sunanda's death
Sunanda was found dead on January 17, 2014, in a Delhi hotel suite she was sharing with her husband.
Explaining the changes in the police theory, a senior police officer said, "This is not the first time when a case of alleged murder turned out to be a suicide". The charge sheet that includes several annexures noted that Pushkar died within four years of her marriage.
Tharoor took to Twitter to challenge the charges framed against him. Soon after, Delhi Police issued a statement justifying its action.
"No one who knew Sunanda believes she would ever commit suicide, let alone abetment on my part". The police in its charge sheet also alleged that Tharoor had subjected his wife to cruelty. The investigators have now concluded that the death of Pushkar was a case of suicide and not a murder.
The best-selling author and colourful orator also questioned the "methods and motivations" of Delhi police, suggesting a political vendetta was at play. The case that Mr Tharoor drove his wife to suicide was weak, Mr Surjewala said.
March 12: Delhi police commissioner says Mehar Tarar is an important link in the case and will be asked to join the investigation.
Area voters to decide school budgets, board seats
Newcomer Heather Wright will be replacing School Board member Claire Bean, who has opted not to run for reelection. Voters will also elect two Board of Education members, each to serve three-year terms beginning on July 1, 2018.
Tharoor, 62, denied the charges, calling them "preposterous".
September 30: Viscera report submitted to Delhi Police. Swamy had filed PILs over the case. The Delhi Police named Tharoor as the only accused in its voluminous 3,000-page chargesheet.
On the autopsy done at AIIMS by a board of doctors headed by Dr. Sudhir Gupta, the report said that there have been 15 injury marks on her body but none of them have contributed in her death.
November 10: Viscera report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation said radiation in Pushkar's viscera samples was within permissible levels and did not cause her death.
Swamy had earlier told the court that there has been constant attempt to block the investigation into the death of Pushkar.
The Delhi Police charged Tharoor with "abetment of suicide" and subjecting his wife Sunanda Pushkar to cruelty under the Penal Code.
