Everton have confirmed that manager Sam Allardyce has been relieved of his post after leading the Premier League outfit for only six months.

There was widespread speculation in the British press about Allardyce's position at the Merseyside club after a below-par season.

Allardyce has been heavily criticised by fans for his management and Everton's style of play since he took over and the club said the decision was part of their "longer-term plan".

Watford remain angered by Everton's repeated attempts to lure Silva to Goodison Park over a two-month period which unsettled the Portuguese boss and led to a dramatic dip in form on field - after one win was notched in 11 matches.

In a club statement, CEO Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale was quoted as saying by ESPNFC: "On behalf of the Chairman, Board of Directors and Moshiri, I'd like to thank Sam for the job he has done at Everton over the last seven months".

"Sam was brought in at a challenging time last season to provide us with some stability and we are grateful to him for doing that", she added.

They included Israel and Honduras. "We are a nation that deserves a land to live on, and they're eating it up", she said. Louis area also closed for 70 minutes around lunchtime to symbolize the number of years of Israeli occupation.

Allardyce was appointed last November after the club sacked Ronald Koeman but now he is heading to the exit door in the wake of their Premier League season concluding last Sunday with a 3-1 defeat against West Ham. "Generally there's no smoke without fire".

Everton were unwilling to pay a reported compensation fee of £15 million ($20 million) wanted by Watford for Silva when Koeman was sacked.

Everton scored only 44 goals in 38 outings in the league, the second lowest tally of all teams outside the bottom six, and with the future in mind, the club have decided to make a change.

"They must have been in the pipeline for a considerable time but no-one thought to tell me and my staff".

Rooney had seen his involvement limited under Allardyce, but could be convinced to stay at his boyhood club by a new regime.
