Shenmue 3 Has Been Delayed

Shenmue 3 Delayed Again, Now Slated For 2019 Release
Creator Yu Suzuki also apologized for the delay, promising "to use this time to improve the quality of Shenmue 3".
Deep Silver, the company publishing Shenmue III, recently announced that the sequel will not be coming out this year.
It's unknown whether the delay was due to any one specific issue with development, although Deep Silver did receive criticism after a 2018 teaser trailer featured some characters with faces that seemed incapable of emoting. "We can not thank you enough for your enduring support". That criticism prompted the Shenmue III team to post a video to their Kickstarter page showing that they did, in fact, have the tech to allow characters to emote.
Deep Silver mentioned that the game will get further polish to the "high standards it deserves" and a better release timeframe.
Shenmue III is now in development for the PS4 and PC. The biggest game of prominence that was unknown before that conference, that has subsequently been released, was The Last Guardian, which tells you all you need to know about the state of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Dreams and Shenmue 3. Shenmue 3, as you might recall, started off as a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign back during E3 2015 and while the prospect of a threequel for Yu Suzuki's beloved series is exciting, there's no denying that Kickstarter projects often leave participants with broken dreams and lighter wallets. It'll be interesting to see what Deep Silver and Suzuki and crew will cook up for gamers when 2019 rolls around.
