LucasFilm's Keen For A Lando Spin-Off, So Prep For Maximum Donald Glover

'Lando' Movie in the Works, Says Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy

Thandie Newton

"My dad imprinted me with this kind of Star Wars longing, because it does feel like the Bible to me in a lot of ways".

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy spoke to Premiere France at the movie's Cannes Film Festival debut, where she revealed Glover's character will likely be front-and-centre soon.

The endless possibilities of what A Star Wars Story could be have dwindled since they were originally conceived. His Lando was a highlight of the film's trailers, and has been singled out in early reviews. Though he's not the titular star of the film, Glover has been one of the Solo spin-off's biggest draws since he was cast. Still doing anything. Like, I think that would just be fun to just see him just like...

"In a role that demands greatness, he is, in a word, okay", wrote Nick Schager of The Daily Beast, adding that the movie "sacrifices Han Solo's swagger for a bland origin story". Kennedy's reported comments had yet to be posted to the studio-run website StarWars.com by Wednesday morning.

As for Lando Calrissian, the point of his character being pansexual is displaying that he's a real wild card and does whatever the hell he pleases. "When I heard they were making these, I told my agent, 'if they're making anything with Lando in it, I have to be Lando, '" he said over the weekend during a Solo press day.

BATWOMAN (and GOTHAM) Coming to the CW-DCU
When the character was rebooted in the early 2000s as a Jewish lesbian, Katherine Kane, she gained a devoted fan following. But no more - because the next crossover is heading to Gotham City, and meeting up with a familiar face: Batwoman herself.

If you want to go and see the film, it's out in the United Kingdom next Friday.

LucasFilm have always been rumoured to be planning sequels for Solo, but it presumably depends on how the movie fares at the box office when it opens later this month. Nearly like a 'Catch Me If You Can.

Solo now has a so-so critic score of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes. And likewise, Matt Singer of Screen Crush suggests, "If Lucasfilm really is serious about a Solo sequel, I only want to see it if it's called Lando: A Star Wars Story".

The star has had an incredible year.
