Fortnite Battle Royale as released a limited-time game mode called Solo Showdown
In addition to the ongoing 50v50 event, Epic has kicked off a new limited-time mode in Fortnite:Battle Royale. Instead of manipulating the core game, the Solo Showdown event is a test for esports that will send ripples into Fortnite's future. Players compete to earn a spot on the standings, and those with a high enough score by the end of the competition will be rewarded with a huge prize of V-Bucks. Gameplay for Solo Showdown will be identical to the standard solo mode, which means that there won't any of the tweaks to drops or new rules we typically see in other limited-time game modes. Anyone who lands between 51st and 100th place will bag themselves 7,500 V-Bucks, those in 5th - 50th place will receive 13,500 V-Bucks, those in 2nd - 4th will get 25,000 V-Bucks, and whoever lands in 1st place will get 50,000 V-Bucks.
And a note for people who suck at Fortnite like me: everybody who finishes their 50 qualifying matches will get an exclusive in-game spray regardless of performance.
The Fortnite Solo Showdown is now live to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC, providing players with a stiff new challenge. Considering Solo Showdown is only available from today, May 17, until May 21, that doesn't give you all that much time to squeeze in 50 matches.
BATWOMAN (and GOTHAM) Coming to the CW-DCU
When the character was rebooted in the early 2000s as a Jewish lesbian, Katherine Kane, she gained a devoted fan following. But no more - because the next crossover is heading to Gotham City, and meeting up with a familiar face: Batwoman herself.
Place between 50 and 5 and you'll get 13,500 V-bucks, while fourth, third and second place get 25,000 and the victor gets a whopping 50,000.
Earlier this week, some very committed fans of Fortnite Battle Royale dug into the game's files and uncovered content that seemed to suggest that a competitive game mode is on the way. You must play 50 Solo Showdown LTM matches to be eligible for a prize. The top 100 players will be awarded. If you're interested in participating, you can read the full rules over on Fortnite's official website.
