Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and Pakistan's Punjab province Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday chaired his first parliamentary party meeting.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Friday that Nawaz Sharif's political narrative is more unsafe than his recent statement on the 2008 Mumbai attack.

Interior minister Ahsan Iqbal also attended the meeting, while questions were raised on the absence of former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Earlier, Nawaz, in an interview to a local newspaper published on May 12, had said, "Militant organisations are active".

In this interview, Nawaz Sharif's remarks on the 2008 Mumbai attacks were blown up by Indian media.

Several PML-N party members - reportedly including Sardar Ashiq Hussain Gopang, Abdul Rahman Kanju and Shafqat Baloch - expressed concern over Sharif's remarks. The testimonies of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt. Safdar will be recorded.

Comparing the performance of the PML-N with that of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, the ruling party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said, "We have completed the metro bus project in Lahore at a cost of Rs30bn while over Rs60bn has been spent on a similar project being executed in KP".

The National Security Committee, Pakistan's top civil-military body, condemned the "fallacious" statement by Sharif about the Mumbai terror attack and termed it as "incorrect and misleading".

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and around 120 lawmakers of the party graced occasion with their presence, reported Geo TV.

The sources said that Nawaz Sharif believed that his party should go into the coming elections with his narrative of "give respect to the vote".

The prime minister also said that they will never let their land be used against any other country.
